Our latest CyberGhost VPN test showed excellent nearby performance using WireGuard. CyberGhost retained 95.5% of our VPN-off download speed in Sweden and 95.4% in Germany. UK performance reached 79.9%, while US East and Singapore showed much larger long-distance throughput reductions. Across all five tested regions, our fixed-target stability test recorded 0% packet loss and 0% detected latency spikes.
We tested CyberGhost VPN on Windows using WireGuard across all five Private Proxy Guide core regions. Sweden and Germany both retained more than 95% of our VPN-off download speed, while the UK retained 79.9%. US East and Singapore showed much larger long-distance throughput reductions. All five regions recorded 0% packet loss and 0% detected latency spikes in our fixed-target stability test.
What our CyberGhost VPN test showed
CyberGhost delivered excellent nearby performance. Sweden reached 90.39 Mbps against our 94.67 Mbps VPN-off baseline, corresponding to 95.48% download-speed retention. Germany was almost identical at 90.35 Mbps and 95.44% retention.
The UK retained 79.88% of baseline download throughput. Long-distance performance dropped substantially, with US East retaining 24.09% and Singapore retaining 11.84%.
The stability results were particularly consistent. All five VPN regions recorded 0% packet loss and 0% detected latency spikes, and p95 latency remained within 0–1 ms of the stability median in every region except Sweden, where the difference was also only 1 ms.
CyberGhost VPN speed test results
Our VPN-off baseline was 94.67 Mbps download, 94.68 Mbps upload and 9.09 ms latency. We performed five VPN-off baseline runs and three speed-test runs per CyberGhost region. Median values are used for reporting.
Download speed retained
Quick interpretation
- Sweden: excellent near-baseline throughput and very low added latency.
- Germany: almost identical speed retention to Sweden.
- UK: solid European performance, but a clearer throughput reduction.
- US East: substantial long-distance speed reduction.
- Singapore: lowest throughput and highest latency in this batch.

| Singapore | 186.33 ms | +177.24 ms | 0.244 ms |
Gaming latency and connection stability
We separate regional latency from tunnel stability. Regional latency comes from the locked Ookla endpoint used for each VPN location. A separate 50-sample fixed-target ICMP test measures median latency, p95 latency, jitter, packet loss and latency spikes.
| Location | Stability median | p95 | Packet loss |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweden | 11 ms | 12 ms | 0% |
| Germany | 20 ms | 21 ms | 0% |
| United Kingdom | 28 ms | 28 ms | 0% |
| US East | 92 ms | 93 ms | 0% |
| Singapore | 186 ms | 187 ms | 0% |
Stability jitter and spikes
| Location | Stability jitter | Spike rate | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweden | 0.122 ms | 0% | Stable |
| Germany | 0.367 ms | 0% | Stable |
| United Kingdom | 0.286 ms | 0% | Stable |
| US East | 0.551 ms | 0% | Stable |
| Singapore | 0.245 ms | 0% | Stable |
CyberGhost produced a very tight stability profile. The UK stability median and p95 were both 28 ms, while Sweden, Germany, US East and Singapore showed only a 1 ms difference between median and p95. No latency spikes were detected in any of the five regions.
Exit-location validation
CyberGhost completed all five location checks successfully using the runner’s multi-source geolocation consensus model.
| Location | Requested target | Consensus | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweden | Sweden / Stockholm | SE | PASS CONSENSUS |
| United Kingdom | United Kingdom / London | GB | PASS CONSENSUS |
| Germany | Germany / Frankfurt | DE | PASS CONSENSUS |
| US East | United States / New York | US | PASS CONSENSUS |
| Singapore | Singapore / Singapore | SG | PASS CONSENSUS |
CyberGhost server selection
The CyberGhost Windows adapter attempted automatic location selection first. In this test batch, automatic UI selection could not be verified reliably, so all five regions used the runner’s guided manual fallback.
The tester selected the requested standard CyberGhost location in the running Windows application. The runner then detected the public-IP transition and required the exit-country consensus check to pass before collecting regional benchmark data.
This means the batch is still location-verified, but the connection method should not be interpreted as fully automated CyberGhost server selection.
| Location | Connection mode | IP change detected | Geo verification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweden | Manual fallback | 1.38 s | PASS |
| United Kingdom | Manual fallback | 0.93 s | PASS |
| Germany | Manual fallback | 0.90 s | PASS |
| US East | Manual fallback | 2.78 s | PASS |
| Singapore | Manual fallback | 4.03 s | PASS |
These values measure how long the runner waited until it detected the public IP change after manual connection. They are diagnostic observations and are not used to rank provider connection speed.
DNS observations
IPLeak.net DNS evidence was collected for the VPN-off baseline and all five CyberGhost regions. The VPN-off baseline explicitly reported zero detected DNS resolvers on both attempts.
| Location | DNS status | VPN DNS observation | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweden | INCONCLUSIVE | No resolvers detected | No valid baseline resolver set |
| United Kingdom | INCONCLUSIVE | No resolvers detected | No valid baseline resolver set |
| Germany | INCONCLUSIVE | No resolvers detected | No valid baseline resolver set |
| US East | INCONCLUSIVE | No resolvers detected | No valid baseline resolver set |
| Singapore | INCONCLUSIVE | No resolvers detected | No valid baseline resolver set |
IPv4, IPv6 and security observations
- IPv4 location validation: PASS CONSENSUS across all five PPG core regions.
- DNS: INCONCLUSIVE BASELINE. IPLeak reported zero resolvers during the VPN-off baseline.
- IPv6: INCONCLUSIVE BASELINE. The IPv6 lookup hostnames could not be resolved during baseline testing.
- CyberGhost server selection: guided manual fallback used for all five regions, followed by strict public-IP and geo-consensus verification.
- Kill switch: not tested in this batch.
Test evidence
The CyberGhost batch generated raw Ookla measurements, fixed-target stability data, multi-source IP geolocation evidence, IPLeak observations and automatic desktop and Speedtest screenshots.

CyberGhost VPN test conclusion
CyberGhost delivered excellent European throughput in this standardized batch. Sweden retained 95.48% of baseline download speed and Germany retained 95.44%, making both routes effectively near-baseline on our roughly 95 Mbps connection.
UK performance remained solid at 79.88% retention. Long-distance throughput was much lower, with US East retaining 24.09% and Singapore 11.84%. This reinforces why PPG tests the same VPN across geographically different routes rather than publishing one generic speed figure.
Stability was one of the strongest parts of the CyberGhost result. Every region recorded 0% packet loss and 0% detected spikes, and p95 latency remained extremely close to the median throughout the five-region test.
All five requested exit countries also passed multi-source geolocation consensus. The CyberGhost Windows client itself required guided manual server selection in this batch because automatic UI selection could not be verified reliably, but each connection was independently checked before benchmark data was collected.
DNS and IPv6 remain inconclusive because valid VPN-off baselines could not be established for those specific checks. We therefore make no DNS-leak or IPv6-leak Pass/Fail claim from this batch. The dataset covers CyberGhost’s paid Windows app using WireGuard and does not establish performance for OpenVPN, specialized streaming or gaming servers, specific game endpoints or kill-switch behavior.
